10:40 AM - Meet at Jordan Hall parking lot with fleet vehicles. Parking may be limited at Red Jacket, so it is important for students to ride together in the fleet vehicles provided for the program

Join the AgriTech Community free picnic!
Our very own Food Science staff will prepare pulled pork, salt potatoes, baked beans, and cole slaw ready to eat at 4:00pm. As a way to celebrate culinary diversity, we asked attendees to bring a dessert that reminds them of home…wherever that may be!
There will be music as well as a game of volleyball or corn hole.

8:45am - Arrive at Darrow high tunnels
8:45-9:30 - Tunnel Talk at Cornell Darrow Research Farm
9:30 - Head up to Brockport, NY (1 hr 10 min drive).
Pitstop at the Byrne Dairy near the farm (5550 Brockport Spencerport Rd, Brockport, NY 14420) or anywhere along the way *there are porta potties at the farm, but no other services.
10:45 - Arrive at Kreher Farm - this link leads to a home just before the dirt road you need to take to reach the high tunnels. These coordinates may help: 43°12'57.8"N 77°54'21.0"W
Turn onto a dirt road and drive for approximately 0.25 miles to reach the tunnels.
IMPORTANT: please drive slowly on the dirt roadTunnel Talk for ~45 minutes then head home
Lunch: It is recommend packing lunch in case there is a delay. However, there are few fast-food restaurants along the thruway.
Specific clothing: Close toed shoes, no jewelry aside from wedding-band style rings (farm protocol to prevent contamination).

AgriTech Tree Tour
In coordination with the NYS’s Invasive Species Awareness Week (June 8 - 14):
The walk starts at 12:30 PM.
Students who would like to join the lunchtime campus walking tour should meet at the red picnic tables behind Hedrick Hall.
The Good, the Bad, and the Invasive
Join us for a guided walk through Cornell AgriTech’s campus as we explore remarkable trees, troublesome invasive species, and the challenges they present to our landscapes. Along the way, we’ll highlight outstanding native and ornamental trees that contribute beauty, habitat, and resilience to the campus environment. In addition, we’ll also make a stop at the demonstration plots near Barton Hall with native perennials and shrubs that serve as habitat and nectar sources for beneficial insects.

Group Dinner
Chris and Larry Smart will host the summer scholars and RAs for dinner on Friday at their house – starting at 5:00 PM.
They will be serving homemade Mexican bar – with carnitas, pulled chicken, and seasoned hamburger meat for burritos, tacos, or nachos with rice and beans, roasted peppers and salad. They will have non-alcoholic drinks and Larry’s lab will bring some dishes to pass.
Details will be provided during Day-Two orientation

12:00pm - RAs and program coordinators will meet students at their assigned house to distribute keys.
6:30pm - dinner provided in the lawn of Hillcrest House for scholars and RAs, followed by Q&A with program leaders.
